What is a launch survivor?

A product that launched on Product Hunt or StartupBase and still answers when we open its site at night. We check every listed product from each month's batch, every night, from the outside.

How do you know which products launched?

We read the daily launch lists of Product Hunt and StartupBase every morning for the day before, open each product's own site, and list the ones that are reachable.

What does "went dark" mean?

Five failed nightly checks in a row, confirmed from other networks. The product moves to the graveyard and stays there until it answers again.

Why are not all launches counted?

Some launches have no reachable site of their own, or belong to a big company we do not list. They are counted as launched but not checked.

Launch survivors

Product Hunt and StartupBase show a product on its launch day and never again. We open every product from each month's batch every night and write down what we saw. So far: 1024 of 1025 checked launches still answer, 1 went dark.

The numbers grow every month. A product counts as alive when its site answered last night, every way a visitor could reach it; as dark after five failed nights confirmed from other networks. Nothing is self-reported and nothing can be bought.
