How these numbers were arrived at
Every product in the catalog is checked once a day: whether the site answers, how quickly, whether the certificate is valid and whether the page content changed. Five consecutive failures is what we call unavailable. Prices and deadlines are recorded whenever the maker edits the listing.
The limits are worth stating plainly: we measure from one location, once a day, so a short outage goes unnoticed. The catalog is not a representative sample of the market — it holds the products somebody chose to add. And a site that stops answering does not always mean a company that stopped existing.
