A status badge you cannot fake
Most trust badges are an image you upload once and never touch again. This one is drawn by our server every time somebody loads it, from the checks we ran that morning. If your site stops answering, the badge says so — on your own page, without you doing anything. That is what makes it worth something to a visitor.

That is the point. A number you control proves nothing. A visitor knows this one comes from somewhere else, so it carries weight yours would not.
It fails honestly
If your site goes down, the badge turns red on your own page. Uncomfortable, but a badge that only ever says good news is decoration.
